The trail is more of a route along washes and usage paths marked with trail posts or reflective tipped PVC pipes. The trail is oriented for clockwise travel since counter-clockwise can not be found without prior knowledge (waypoint – Pinnacle Loop JCT) since not initially marked. Carefully navigate route scanning for the many markers along the trail. Many are in close proximity and easy to spot while others are farther away requiring a hiker to stop to scan the terrain. Some usage paths will follow the wrong primary direction, but the path of travel can be corrected by looking for the next post. The proper final “straight shot” to the parking lot can be missed if not paying attention while walking through the wash from the Pinnacles. At that point, carefully follow the most worn usage path since some are faint while scanning for the next marker post. At least the parking lot is visible, but follow path and markers to prevent creation of new paths. Park map indicates scrambling option which is simply class 1 walking on sandstone rock.
