I asked a ranger at the visitor center to clarify the proper way to travel so I stay on the "trail". He refused to talk about the trail at all. So I told him I guess I'll have to figure it out on my own identifying the ideal path to follow. He indicated if I do so to please let them know when I hike the trail. I told them you seriously want me to tell you when I hike the trail because you are afraid I'll get lost, but you won't give me info to ensure I don't get lost. He didn't have a response. The trail is well defined in many area until meandering up a wash. It was much easier to navigate than anticipated. There are so many markers that I find it hard to get lost. A couple areas were missing an ideal marker that was probably washed away or removed, but nonetheless not hard to navigate. The trail is very pretty and scenic. The best way to hike it is from the south to north so the sun is behind. This would be an awesome hike if not for the fact that a shuttle is needed. Otherwise, a longer walk back which would still be quite pretty and scenic. Traveling from north to south is harder to navigate.
