I had my mind set that the Charlie's Spring hike would be a disappointing slog in a sandy wash only to be amazed by the beauty along the way. A small portion of the wash was dry sand while the rest was different levels of moist with multiple small flowing streams. The scrambling portion will be a challenge for someone who has never scrambled before, but they are only class 2. Extremely scenic to and after the spring. Although, the spring was a disappointment. Perhaps due to the fact that it is winter. The route to the spring is very easy since simply travel down the wash. I made the discretionary assessment that the end of the trail is the pool of water for the spring and not the first sign of a spring since that is subjective. The return trip is also easy except for the turn up the correct wash back to the parking area. Otherwise, if missed, then the wash will connect to the Old Arrowhead Trail is less than a mile. Nonetheless, a favorite hike to enjoy again.
